Driver Qualification

To ensure passenger safety and uphold community trust, Saugeen Drives follows driver qualification standards outlined in the Saugeen Shores Taxi/Limousine By-law.

All Saugeen Drives drivers must:

  1. Be 18 years of age or older.
  2. Hold a valid Class A, B, C, D, E, F, or G driver’s licence issued by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
  3. Have no more than six (6) demerit points on their driving record.
  4. Not have had their driver’s licence suspended within the last 12 months due to any of the following offences:
    • Driving under suspension
    • Speeding more than 50 km/h over the posted limit
    • Careless driving
    • Racing on a highway
    • Failing to remain at the scene of an accident
    • Failing to report an accident
    • Any Criminal Code of Canada offence committed while operating or in care/control of a motor vehicle
    • Failing to stop for police
  5. Not have been convicted of two or more Criminal Code offences (on separate dates) involving a motor vehicle within the last five (5) years.
  6. Not have been convicted of any offence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act within the last five (5) years.
  7. Not have been convicted within the last five (5) years of any sexual or moral offences under the Criminal Code of Canada.
  8. Not have been convicted of any offence that suggests the driver is unfit to perform their duties or is not a suitable person to be responsible for the safety of children or seniors.

We maintain these standards to ensure every Saugeen Drives passenger can travel with confidence, knowing that their driver is fully qualified, vetted, and committed to safe and respectful service.
